We acquired a 13' Scamp, and after 4-5 camping trips, have figured out that we like using the front bunk beds for storage. When I put the top bunk up, the small phillip screws that stick out of the bunk [supposed to go down into the loops on the poles] don't seem to align and fit right.. making me think that the small screws are not original items.

What holds the top bunk up? I know the poles extend up from the bottom bunk, but what exactly connects the top bunk to the bunk poles? Does anyone have pictures?

Thanks.

Send a message via Yahoo to Alf S.
Hi: On our former Boler the screws in the bunk plywood had plastic covers over the threads and that was supposed to go in the pole loops...except we didn't get the poles!!! I had to make my own version with hardwood dowels and steel "L" brackets.

Hi Alf--

Thanks for that info. I'm guessing that I may have to call Scamp and see what they suggest. The angle of the screws in the bunk don't permit them to fit into the poles / loops, and I can't imagine how a shower curtain holder would attach to the bunk. I'm thinking a picture will help me in this case.

Thanks

Carol -- I am just now getting around to replying. Your picture is perfect. Thanks for posting it. My "bolts" looking nothing like what you have on your top bunk. Mine are tiny little phillips head screws. We are calling the scamp factory to see about getting the correct item.

Again, Thanks.

Hi Parker --

So does your bunk screws fit into the hooks correctly... and does it stay up? The way the bolts fit in the picture above looks like a better design.

I figured this out... (and feel a bit stupid about it). The small phillips screws in the top bunk work rather well - especially if you hook the screws in the pole tabs first, then put the bunk poles into their sockets on the lower bunk. It makes the bunk rather solid, and it goes nowhere during travel.

I was doing the opposite: putting the pole into the lower socket, then hooking [or trying to] the screws into the pole tabs.

Thanks all, for your help!

Sheryl,

Sorry I missed your post, but glad you sorted it out! We've never set ours up, so thanks for letting us know the procedure.
