1971 Boler Door Latch

Hello
My door latch no longer locks securely when locked. The latch still moves enough when the handle is moved to allow the door to open. It seems worn out.
Is it possible to replace the latch hardware or can it be repaired?
I don't want to drill out the rivets and remove until I have a plan or a replacement.

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts

Would not waste the time to try to repair a 50 yr old lock. Replace it yourself or have a locksmith do it. You should be able to find one on the internet.

Mine is the same. Also riveted in. I noticed the holes that mount the outside piece do not match what I have. So this is an issue for me. But this is what I found on Amazon. Hope that helps.

I had a similar problem earlier this year. I drilled out the rivets and opened it up. There’s a spring inside that had broken in mine. It’s an odd oblong shape, but I picked up a pair of small regular springs at the hardware store and they’re working fine. I stuck them in place with a dab of JB Weld on one end, and the same in the rivet holes to hold the case back together. Not sure why I didn’t re-rivet it. Next time I’ll upgrade to a modern RV door latch, but this was an easy $2 fix.

Boler Lock replacement

You can get a kit at the link below to replace the original Boler lock with a a more modern one. I did this a few months ago and it worked really well. You need to confirm which original lock version you have as there are 2 types of kits. There are installation videos which you can see the process and types of locks it works with.
