Hi,
I have been trying to find a 13' Boler but came across an ad for a Scamp 13' that fits our needs (Bunk model / Fridge / Awning / Furnace and in good condition). The price on it is $6,900 Canadian. I have a pretty good idea what that year Boler would cost in that condition and this seems like a bit steep in comparison. The Scamp is on a RV lot. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Please move this post to the approriate area if this isn't the section it should be in.
Thanks in advance,
Booker

if you can go look at it i would... take a print out of the 'buyers checklist' with you... they might take offers... Sometimes the yr of the trailer isnt that important (jmo) its how good shape its in and if everything works!!
Most places will take offers too..... if you think its priced to high...
its always buyer beware..

My friend just talked to that dealer (I'm assuming it's the same one) about that scamp. Brandy got a heck of a deal on a scamp 13 about 5 hrs east. About a third of that cost. She spoke to the dealer and told her what she paid and the dealer said "Wow, you got a really good deal". My point in telling you this is that the dealer knows their price is really high.

When U R buying, go to www.nada.com and print out the price quote to show the seller if they are priced higher than NADA.
When selling a trailer, say that NADA doesn't know what they are saying.

Ouch!
I way overpaid using nada.com quote. Actually, I was quite happy with my purchase price of $2000 for a 13' 1987 Casita. Nada says $850 should have been the price. Maybe for a rotted out shell.
They just don't know the real value of our lovely Eggs. We'll have to teach them!

Paula,
Don't get too upset about the NADA price estimate. They are way low compared to the actual market.

I have bought and sold 5 Fiberglass trailers in the last 2 1/2 years. Three have been 13' Scamps.
I am always on ebay, Craigslist and other places looking for good buys.
In my opinion the dealers is at least $3000.00 over priced, possibly a lot more.

I just purchased a 1976 13' Scamp in Albuquerque for $1899.00. It is in perfect condition aside from having garish upholstry. Gas stove, heater, 3-way fridge. I'd keep looking if I were you.

Wow, thanks for the response everyone!
I should have included the original ad that I found : 1977 Scamp
One of the disadvantages of living on V. Island (big as it is) is that we are a bit of captive market. It's a $300 round trip off the island so darting to Washington State to buy a trailer is a full commitment. I appreciate everyone's feedback on the Scamp.
Cheers,
Booker

We bought our '82 13' Scamp almost 4 years ago for $2300. It was in good shape except that the interior needed updating (carpet, curtains, etc.) We felt that we paid a fair price for it. Good luck!

Paula,
Like I said, only use NADA when you are purchasing and tell the people when you are selling that NADA don't know what they are doing.

I think the problem is that NADA and the other blue books get a lot of their pricing from depreciation formulas than from actual data. Fiberglass trailers don't wear out as fast as cars and trucks, and are not so linked to model years that have gone out of style as cars and trucks. Add to that the fact that the NADA guides are used by banks, credit unions and other lenders to get loan amounts and they'd likely want to err on the low side than the high.
