1980 perris pacer questions

Hello everyone. I have a 1980 perris pacer that i'm in the process of fixing up. I was wondering if anyone has any idea of what this weights. I do not have access currently to any type of scale. Also if anyone has a perris pacer what are you towing it with.....4 cyl 6cyl auto or stick. I am currenlty towing it with a 1986 cj7 that is getting a bit old and was sort of looking for a different tow vehicle.

Thanks in advance

Bunches and bunches of folks have registered on FiberglassRV with ownership of Perris Pacer, few have actually posted recently. You might send Robert Johans or Vickie A. or Vickie B. messages. They're the most recently active Pacer owners.

Hi Alan;

Well, that's hard to answer because it's going to depend on how it's fitted out. Ice Box/fridge? Stove top? Propane bottle? Battery? Porta Potty? Etc, etc.

We need more info. And Pictures.

Just as a rough guide for you I can tell you that my Boler American weighed in at a Certified Scale at 1010 lbs. It currently has no insulation, no fridge, no a/c, no battery or propane or stove top. It is, as DonnaD likes to call them; a "hard-sided tent"!

I can't advise you on a new TV as I tow with an 85 Volvo wagon! 86 isn't old, it's classic! And we need pictures of your rig!!

Think Boler or Scamp...
How is yours equipped?

Alan,

Some of us do not log on daily, especially over the weekends. Have a look at the 13' Scamps, bolers etc. here:

A 13' Perris Pacer is similar to the 13' Boler and 13' Scamp, so you could use their numbers to approximate what yours might weigh. According to the sampling in the link, the lightest one is 1300 pounds and the heaviest is 1950 pounds.

I lost that record, but I seem to remember it was around 2100 pounds.

Remember, these are all loaded-for-camping weights, not "dry" weights.

Hey Alan. I have an 82 Pacer. We have pulled it with 6 cyl Taurus when we bought it and now use an Expedition and an Explorer to tow with. All cars seem to do OK. The Taurus did overheat a bit pulling the Perris Hilton across the Mojave.

Ours is about 1000 lbs gutted fiberglass shell. The rating plaque says 1300 lbs.
