93 Scamp Heater - Doesn't Come On

We are out camping & last night got chilly.

Propane is full.. stove lights but I hear no usual clicks in heater when thermostat is turned up.

Any ideas on what to check?

If its a Suburban furnace, check for matching model number on cover page. If found, the trouble shooting flow charts start on page 27.

Thanks... I'll read that when we get to our PC. Hard to read on phone.

I can hear nothing? Nothing happens.... would it be a fuse somewhere?

It is common for the thermostat to stick.
Slide it back and forth a few times, if the fan starts , be patient, the fire may start after about 30 seconds.
If it doesn't start, slap the side of the furnace because it may have a sticky sail switch.
If that doesn't do it check the in and out air tubes for obstructions...Dirt daubers just LOVE to build nests in there.
After all that, go to the troubleshoot procedure

Hi,
If you are on shore power and furnace doesn't start it is probably your battery. Check fuse first.

If by "no click" you mean at the thermostat, then it's a thermostat problem. Depends on which click you're referencing.

The trouble shooting guide for my Atwood is surprisingly good. It takes you through what's necessary for everything to function, as it happens in the furnace system, step by step. It makes it fairly easy to isolate the problem.

No thermostat click means the thermostat isn't functioning. Thermostat working, no fan can be fuses or relays. Fan turning on but heat not firing means the sail switch isn't closing, either because there isn't enough battery power to get the fan up to speed to blow it closed, or because the switch itself is failing.

That's as far as my knowledge goes. I've never had to trouble shoot the gas components.

This is kinda weird... I turned thermostat up & nothing happened.

I forgot to turn it back to off.... about 2 hours later my wife wakes me up asking what the clicking sound was.... I then could smell the heater was on... & there was heat!

Any ideas?

If there is a plate on the fire box that you can open, Do so and see if the fire box has water in it. If it does, remove the water and dry the inside of the fire box, reassemble and try to lite.
