A Boo Boo (sort of )

I was apparently backing up into the drive way ( I do a right angle turn) and I guess i turned to sharp.. so a dent was put into the coupler part by the tow bar part).. now the truck is stuck to the trailer!! EEEEEK Well i guess its back to the shop tomarrow to try to either get this out somehow or have it cut off and a new whole coupler put on!!

I also noticed that the front part of the frame under the 5er is about 1/2 inch pulled away from the floor.. soooooooooooooooooo that will have to be reattached some how.. i see some screws up there that have popped out....

Another question i need to know as when i first pull out with the trailer and get to the first stop.. the brakes grab really bad... the setting on the prodigy is really low. 1.1.. but after its gone down the road a bit (maybe a mile or two) they seem to be fine.???? whats with that??? I cant seem to find someone that knows about getting these brakes set right????

I guess if i didn't have any bad luck at all i wouldn't have any luck !!

On the good side.. the camping was good! Nice weather even tho they predicted rain!

Go to the Prodigy web site here
adjust the brake controller according these instructions.

I think of two things that might be causing your brakes to grab. 1) Drum brakes will sometime do that when they're a bit damp. 2) You could have a lot of boost set on the brake controller or 3) Both.

The instruction will talk about setting and boost.

It`s also possible that your brake shoes are contaminated with grease or oil......cold brakes could grab but warm up after a couple applications and the grabbing stops.....Benny

Christi..... I had the exact same problem and even tried setting the brake controller down to 1.1 also which didn't help. Like BYRON said to check the boost setting as one of the problems........ I actually set my "Boost" setting to "off" as i am towing with a larger pickup and now it works great and i keep my power setting up around "6"...this setting also keeps my brake drums much cooler when running in city traffic.
