A "Shady" Situation Needs Your Advice!

Our 2004 Casita Spirit Deluxe has been sitting in its carport for w-a-y too long and I'm the process of getting 'er running again. Apparently even though the trailer was shaded, sunlight seems to have broken down the plastic on the awning endcaps. I've searched online to match the apparent model number, but with no luck. An email to Dometic (did they make the Horizon awning or not?) has produced no results.

Any thoughts on getting the right caps? Are they tough to change?

Thanks!

A good project for someone with a 3D printer.

Thanks, Friz! That's a good suggestion (if I had dimensions) because there's a "fab lab" down the hall from my office. Meanwhile, I learned that the awning was made by Fiamma and they MAY have parts. I have an email into them, awaiting a reply.

When you get the new part be sure to paint it with something like the Rustoleum plastic paint. It will block the UV and extend the life.
Back when I actually worked I had the maintenance people paint the plastic pipe and rubber fittings with a quality latex paint to help extend the life of those parts as well.

Big fan of krylon fusion paint, sticks to plastic very well and protects from UV attack.

Dometic does not make anything. They just put there name on other's work.
Extend your awning and look carefully at the back aluminum frame and you'll find two tags. On my 1999 Casita the tags were over the door. Look for the Fiamma tag and get their model number. Then go here and find the part number(s) and order your parts online.

You may want to order both ends. That number you show on the tag is for the tag.

Gel coat

I had the same issue with my awning caps. I used some left over white gel coat. Brushed on about 3 coats. Looks good and bullet proof
