AC/heater for 83 Burro

My 83 Burro used to have a heater underneath the sink area. It was removed before I got it. The vent is still there, but sealed up inside the camper behind it. I can remove the added seal easily. I'd like to install an air conditioned and heater in this area. Electric heat would be preferred, but I could also do propane if I have to. I'd like to keep the existing vent on the outside of the camper instead of having the air conditioner stick out and get damaged. Some airflow will probably be needed between the AC unit and vent to make this happen. Has anybody done something like this before? I'm looking for ideas on how I can make this happen.
