I shattered a “wing” window on my truck topper. I’m pretty uninformed on plexiglass-style products. I’m guessing because of the pandemic, it’s in pretty short supply. I did find some at Lowe’s, which is Plaskolite.
The way this window works, it’s attached to a hinge “plate” and arm thing that opens it. The hinges are what keeps it attached to the truck. I used a construction adhesive to attach the glass to the hinge plate. The original glass was attached by some sort of tape-like adhesive. I have no idea if this will stand up to washboard...
What I’m wondering about is whether putting three bolts through the plate and "glass" will secure it, or create a perfect set of weak spots for it to crack. I don't like the idea of this big sheet held onto the topper with just some adhesive, though I know the correct adhesive applied correctly can be plenty strong.
What do you think?
