Adding a top bunk to 17' Boler

I just purchased a 1977 17' Boler and would like to modify the sleeping area to allow a set of bunks. Has anyone added a top bunk (permanent or temporary) to a 17' Boler? I would like to add one, preferably a removable one, to the sleeping area that was the couch section so to allow my two children to join me on my adventures. It doesn't seem like it would be difficult to do but I need some ideas from people who are "handy" as I am not and will need to find someone in British Columbia to help me make this happen. Any help / ideas would be appreciated

Thanks in advance!
Kim

Could you post a picture of where you want to add the bunk?

That’s a great idea! I was thinking if that too. Here are some photos I found from one of the companies that either refurbishes / does their own small fibreglass trailers (can’t remember which).

We have a rear gaucho boler 17. This is how our rear bunk came. There is a full length and width piece of thin plywood/paneling the goes over the fold down cabinet section so the doors don't open under someone.

Hi Lisa, Can you post any more pictures of the back of your Boler? We too have a 17’, and someone told me it was originally a “gaucho”, though it has already had a shoddy reno and so the original bed isn’t there. I really like that couch though! We don’t have that. How big of a bed does the couch turn into? Our modern reno kicks off early Sept and I’m still working on the plans, but would appreciate to see how they originally had it.

Sorry it took so long to respond. The guacho in the back turns into a bed 43.5 inches wide in the middle, same as the front on our boler. We actually sleep in the front and leave the table permently down. DH made about a 1 foot removeable extention for the width of the bed, made a big diffence. Works for me since I am short. We sleep with our head on the drivers side right now, but when DH makes something to protect the screen door we will sleep in the other direction. Anyway, here are more pictures of the guacho.

We have the original 1700 RGW rear top bunk over gaucho; cabinet face folds down onto aluminum angles on side cabinets and the pads are inside the cabinet slide one foreword and use, the rear cabinet is lower and deeper than the front cabinet 4 inch space between it and the window as it is a bit lower than the top of the window. It is the same as the one Lisa in Michigan shows in her pictures
Is your trailer the side gaucho type or rear type?
