advice on our new bigfoot!

There's no leaks that I can see, but our roof is rather lumpy! Advice?

That seems to be fairly common with older Bigfoots because their roof is relatively flat. As long as there are no leaks, I wouldn't be too concerned. If water pools in storage, you can angle the tongue up or down as needed to allow it to drain. Just don't try to run your fridge with the trailer parked significantly off-level.

When people do full interior renovations they sometimes address the sag with additional glassed-in ribs, but there's no compelling reason to tear it apart at this point.

In your region, heavy snow loads may contribute to the waviness. Anything you can do to manage that is a good thing: storing under roof or brushing off snow as it accumulates.

Hard to tell with the weathering of the gel coat. I would polish it up and apply a coating or polish to it which will allow it to shed water. My roof is sunken in somewhat from BF installing a skylight right in front of the A/C weaking the roof, combined with the 100 lbs of Dometic A/C. I have installed a Houghton 9500 A/C that weighs 68 lbs.

I polished the roof while the A/C was removed. My roof was in terrible condition, I’m not sure if it had ever been polished, and I have avoided it, choosing to start on the front which also was in bad shape (did that in the summer of 2023) I bought a buffer/polisher and foam pads, plus Maguires compounds, from Harbor Freight last year and found a good combination of coarse and medium pads and #67 marine and rv compound, finishing off with #210 compound. Yes, you are removing some of the gel coat, but there is really nothing else to do but get the weathered surface off.

With the A/C unit gone, I took some heavy plastic and masking tape and covered the 14x14 opening, and set about polishing. I would start work about 8:30 to 9:30 PM and work fairly steady until midnight or 1 AM. It was quite cool and the cat gang (Griffin and Acey) stayed out there with me.

I have an electric scissor lift and set that on the left side and I used Harbor Freight moving quilts doubled over with plywood on top and a foam kneeling pad on that. It took 6 nights to do the entire roof, and two more nights to apply the RejeX

https://rejex.com/

What is RejeX®?
RejeX is a tough, air-cured, impermeable high-gloss, ultra-slick polymer sealant and finish that provides unmatched protection against surface deterioration – easily outlasting and outperforming other wax-type products. RejeX encapsulates quartz nano and micro particles inside a carefully engineered polymer matrix structure. This chemistry is significantly more advanced than ceramic coatings and "hybrid" waxes that merely mix exotic sounding ingredients with conventional waxes.

You use very little of it, and spread with tight circular motions like you do with rainX on a windshield. This assures you of not missing any spots and after allowing it to dry for 10 to 15 minutes go back with micro fiber towels and wipe it off. I took the buffer with a fake wool buffing pad and gave the area a once over to insure I had all of the area thoroughly wiped. I made sure to NOT apply any RejeX to a two inch wide band around the A/C opening to insure that the sealants I planned on using would bond to the gel coat.

I'll look into coating/polishing the roof as well, I do have all the tools etc, we're going to polish the rest anyways and get some new decals!
