air conditioner

Does anyone know what brand and size of air-conditioner scamp offers for their 16 foot trailers? I need to know what size generator would be needed to power up the air.

I don't know, but my guess would be the Coleman Polar Cub Roof Air Conditioner, because it is the only air conditioner shown in the Scamp Parts Store.

Ive got a smaller ac unit in my ParkLiner, but might upgrade my 8000btu unit at home to a 10 or 12000, and put the 8000 in my ParkLiner since it has the same footprint and only slightly higher energy demands.

I went with the Yamaha EF2400ishc model... surges higher and right now running my ac unit on it is a 25% load, it goes from 2650 rpm's at idle to 2670 rpm's when the compressor kicks in. For the less then 300 dollars I think its a good deal over the honda 2000... and it has an inline fuel shut off. I store the generator in my ParkLiner and can come back a week later and open my door and not smell gas since I shut off the fuel supply and it runs dry, no fuel in the carb.

Thanks for the reply. After researching the various RV web sites, it seems users of the Honda 2000 generator do just fine with the Coleman air unit. I like the weight factor for the Honda. I'm going to go buy one for $979.............seems like a good deal. Looking forward to enjoying a cool camping experience.

Not sure how the generator will work above 5000 ft as we head to the Big Horn mountains this week.

Tim, its totally up to you, but one of the reasons I went with the slightly larger Yamaha 2400 over the Honda or Yamaha 2000 was because its less of a strain on it running and that means its going to be a little bit quieter and less fuel useage. I get a bit over 8 hours of run time on the gallon and a half of gasoline which is enough since I seldom sleep over 6 hours. I thought about the extended run time tank but its not necesary for me... if the weather was so god awful during the day I would take a ride into town to shop or go home vs sitting inside with the ac running all day.

The Yamaha generator does seem like the better unit for power and fuel consumption. Probably give more power as an emergency back up at home too. But for me it is all about size, weight etc and the Honda does pack a lot of punch..............more than I will need for my 16' Deluxe Scamp. Just make sure my wife doesn't run the hair dryer on high.

Any thoughts about running the generator above 5000'
