Aluminum Roof

Hello
Any tips on removing layers of paint and unknown roof sealants off an aluminum roof. We just got a New Horizon Toyota RV and the roof leaks, there looks to be like 4 different layers of stuff on it. We have been tediously scrapping what we can off, any other ideas to help get it off (solvents or other methods) also we have sealed the seams with 3M 4200 and were thinking of using Iron coat to seal roof once cleaned up.

There are some Toyota motorhomes, the Sunraders, that are discussed in this forum but they are made from fiberglass as this is a Fiberglass RV forum.
