I have looked through 4 pages of awnings topics turned up in the "Search" and still haven't found my question (or an answer) so please bear with another
Awning Question.
When I bought my 1986
Bigfoot, half of the
awning supports were still attached to the trailer, but the other parts came in pieces. I guess one side just fell off the trailer and needs to be reattached, but the main problem is the
awning cylinder itself....It looks like the round thing the awning is supposed to be stored in is about 10' across.
I have a photo below of what it looks like and I think one (on another RV) of what I think it's supposed to look like. The fabric for it looked brand new, and all the parts were there (if old, and I guess in at least one case, not working)
I could not figure out how to fix this, so took it to an RV repair place, which just told me that they can't get the "spring assembly" parts for my awning. I am not sure if this is an attempt to sell me a new $500 awning, or if parts aren't made any more for the 1986 model.
Has anyone here found a way around this, or found an ingenuous way to make the awning "sort of" functional? I really like the flip-up arm idea, although some of you have done a great job making awnings with tent pole supports. I would rather have it all attached to the Trailer if possible.
Thanks for any ideas you throw out!
