Bathroom & A/C 16FT Scamp
Need some input/advice--1st issue at hand is A/C. Instead of cutting or making anymore holes in our 1989 Scamp, we have put a 5000 BTU A/C unit where the frig previously sat-the back of the A/C can vent thru the existing vent, and it fits in the space perfect. We also put a dorm size frig above the A/C! Anyone else try this?? If so, any ill affects from this??
2nd issue-the bathroom only has a toilet and tiny sink-any worthy/proven suggestions on how to get a shower goin on in there???
Thanks!
Suz

Just remember, the A/C will produce moisture and needs to vent (through a drainage line) somewhere. Someone produced a post that has two vents, one for incoming cool air the other for that moisture (and hot air) as outgoing... now where is that thread? Hummmmm.
On edit. You'll need to put a shower pan and seal the walls for moisture. I BELIEVE you've got the toilet only option which has rat fur walls? You can change out the sink faucet for one that has a shower hose (out the top) and use the sink faucet for both the lil' sink and a shower. See this link about half-way down the page: http://rvadenver.com/faucets.htm for a sink faucet with shower diverter.

Donna you are a gem!! I'l have to get some pictures of the A/C set up-he has the back vented thru the existing vent on the side, and a "drainer" made for the water run off-we will be trying this out this weekend-i'l let you know how it goes! And YES, we have the rat fur walls-I hate to cover or remove them, they are in excellent shape, but I'd love to have a little of a shower in this unit!
Thank you so much!
Sue

Susan, depending on your camping style... you may want to look at a shower tent. Here's one type: Coleman International - Shower Tent. Folks have used all manner of appliance for water for the shower from garden sprayers to mounting an outside shower appliance to the trailer which provides water to tent. Right now our priority is getting the A/C safely working, and managing space to keep the dorm size frig on top of the A/C-so everything is in the same "cabinet" so to speak! The sides of our Haier (sp?) dorm size frig get pretty warm-this could be a problem.
We are going to attempt to camp this weekend-beginning tomorrow..our maiden voyage! Experimental camping weekend, to start working out the "bugs"!

Refers are heat pumps, they cool by pumping out the hot air inside, thereby causing it to cool. That heat has to be dispersed for efficiency. Can you add a small vent or 12v fan, there is a fan on my 12v refer that will come on and I installed a vent on the cabinet side.

In a previous trailer we had a 4 cubic foot Dorm style fridge. To remove the heat, we installed a 12 volt computer fan in the compressor area to suck the hot air out thru a vent similar to what many people do for their 2 way fridges.

Just spent the first 2 nites camping in our 16 FT Scamp-it went beautiful! The A/C that my husband installed (where the originally frig was) worked awesome, and the Frig is mounted right above the A/C-all worked great. With some helpful hints from here, we did mount a 9inch fan at the top above the Frig and A/C to keep them cool, and the A/C drains out of the outside vent!

A/C and Frig Venting
Here is our final results with the Dorm size frig, and new A/C unit!
The outside vent is multi tasking-access for gas lines, venting for A/C and Frig, and allows A/C condensation to drain out! We also installed a 9inch fan inside towards the back of the frig and A/C-that helps blow/move all the hot air towards that outside vent. We drilled a few holes into the cabinet that surrounds the units, to add air flow. This has been a huge success, and keeps those appliances nice and cool, and also pushes the hot air produced, to the outside!
