Beachcomber TM15 ‘79 Replace Plywood Floor - Help!

Hello! Just bought a Beachcomber TM15 ‘79. Extensive floor rot so replacing plywood. All the Beachcomber floors I have seen have an inset into the fiberglass that allow for wood “cross beams” - mine does not have these. The plywood was layed directly on the fiberglass.

My question: I was planning on glueing down 1/2” x 3” cedar “cross beams” then laying the plywood floor on top of those and then running carriage bolts through both to the frame.

I would love advice on how to do this, if it’s a good idea, etc Or do I need to have the “cross beams” at all?

The 1st photo of the cleaner fiberglass floor is not mine - but is another Beachcomber floor to show as an example of the “cross beams” that I will try to replicate.

I would definitely put the cross braces in. There is not much to these floors so every piece of wood is important. I have a few images on my thread.

Just throwing this out there. I have rebuilt a pathfinder and a ranger boats floors. No wood . Made new stringers “flooring braces”using board made from honey comb sheeting and layered unidirectional fiberglass Glassing to hull/shell . For decking/flooring used honey comb fiberglass sheets and expanding adhesive to the stringers.and glassEd sheeting to hull, but would be easy to make the sheeting “loose” like your wood sheets, if a camper needs more flex than a 22’ bay boat. . Finished with gel coat. Big job but both boats turned out great. Would think boat tech. will transfer to campers . Wood rots , plastic is forever. There are lots of how to’s for replacing boat “floors”decks .
