Bearings

Are scamp bearings proprietary in any sense or are they available places other than the scamp website?
My mechanic was going to help me replace them but his parts guy couldn't find a match.

Something any trailer/rv store should have?

If you have a #10 Dexter 3500# axle or a 3500# ALKO axle the bearings and seals are pretty readly available. If you have an E-Z lube axle make sure you get double lip seals.
Best to try E-Trailer or Eastern Marine both are on line trailer supply outlets.
The older 2200# axles (4 bolt) should also be available. I think the last set I bought for the older axles was from a Northern Hyd. store.

That 5 lug axle should be a replacement, isn't your Scamp an 1985? Maybe look around underneath for a tag?

Here is the best way to tell which axle it is. Remove the hub and get the number off the outer bearing cone. If it is 3500# I have the parts in stock if not 3500# I have the parts in stock.

Send a message via Yahoo to Darwin Maring
Take a set of bearings along with a seal to Advance Auto, Auto Zone, Tractor Supply, Napa, Federated. Any of those stores should be able to provide you with the correct set of bearings and seals.
