Best Use For An Unused Hitch Receiver
I saw an article with all sorts of tables, chairs, and tv mounts that fit into hitch receivers. OK, I suppose. This one made sense. A good place to stash keys, or a spare key. Credit cards too. PS, make sure your hitch pin locks.
Seems a good idea now that you can't put your (some) bike rack there.

Yes, they might. It beats putting your key on top of a tire. It also comes with a rubber dust cover that conceals its purpose. Plus it has a decent lock with rotating digits. 10,000 combinations. Some of the bike cable digital locks aren't so secure, but the Master lockboxes similar to this seem very good. I don't believe Master makes this one.

When we bought our 4Runner it had a rubber plug with the Toyota logo on it. The plug was stolen a week later.

OK, try this. Install this lockbox to throw everybody off, but then put your key on top of your tire. No?

I keep my keys in my pockets ( one set in my pocket and one set on a carabiner on a belt loop ). My wife has a third set, if she doesn't leave it in the trailer.
Cash and credit cards are also in my pockets.
I have cash because I didn't buy this HitchSafe.

Well, that was easy. I just need to get married, and I'll save 50 bucks.

That might work.. but what if you and that inexpensive wife want to go swimming at the beach together? Take the keys with you and Davy Jones might get them. Leave them on the beach and some thief might grab them.
In fact I am beach camping right now and just got back from doing some surf fishing with my keys in my pocket (and no wife here). I would not use this hitch safe often, but I can see a few times a year it might come in handy.

Don't most swim trunks have a little pocket for a key? Secure it with a safety pin after locking the rest of the key chain in the car or trailer.

I didn't see your picture, Alan. But I do believe my keys would be safe in the "Bumper Dumper". What could go wrong? Problem solved. http://bumperdumper.com/about/

Some pretty funny comments
Some pretty funny comments. One thing I would mention is that Master Lock Key Lockers (the ones that real estate people hang on door knobs are not secure. I bought one at a yard sale where the seller had lost the combination. I opened it in less than a minute. Sadly there was no no treasure inside.

I like this and may get one and then buy one of those small shower tents to set up for a bit of privacy.
