Boler Door Hinges

I am going to replace the old door pins on my 1974 Boler. Trouble is that the old pins are pretty well seized in the non-moving part of the hinge. So, how do i get the old pins out? Release-all has not done anything. Heat has been suggested - putting a propane torch on the aluminum hinge to expand it and break the bond. I am reluctant to do this. If its the best way, then I will do it. The only other thing I can envision is drilling out the old pins. Not sure about this either. Ant suggestions? Thanks...

Heat can be your best friend if you are careful. If you are doing this with the hinges still installed please protect the fiberglass from the heat. gentle heating with either a propane torch or heat gun.

Another common problem is the nut seizing to the bolt, in this case the best solution is to cut the bolt off.

hinges

i just cut the nut off of both then lifted open door off. After adding new bolts, balls and springs had to drill out the screws on top hinge leaving the thread after this carefully re-tapped the hinge part of the old steel threads are still in the hinge body bonded as one. Aluminum does not handle heat well so personally thought this was a safer choice for door realignment.
