Boler Fantastic Vent Install

So I finally got the wiring through the rat fur and dropped in the new fantastic vent in my Boler.

Unfortunately I believe it is too low as the turn nob hits me in the head.

I bought the Fan from Vintage Camper Supply.

I am wondering what others have done to address this problem.

I do not want the tines of the camper to be disturbed too much either.

Does anyone know if Fantastic vent sells a shorter turn knob?

How difficult is it to add a spacer on the roof?

Are their threads on this same install in a Boler Roof.

Thank you.

A few members have added a spacer on the roof. A PVC rectangle tubing seems to be what most have used but I think it was more for a roof thickness issue than low knobs. Sealing it would be the same as installing the vent although I don't remember if they used butyl at the corner joints. Someone who did a spacer will be along soon with more info.

Thank you. I'm very curious about the different spacer options.

My fan had a shroud that came with it. Did you install that without modifying it? I cut mine down about 4in and it sits flush now. A pic would help.

Hi: Markz... I installed our MaxxFan using two 3/4 ply spacers. One through the roof and one from the inside. Just enough to recess the knobs and I was able to stretch the Ensolite over them.

I purchased some PVC lumber from Home Depot and will make a frame to raise it 3/4". I've seen some go to 1 1/2" higher but I fear the original roof profile will be too disturbed.
I'll post some pictures when it is done.
Thank you.

Having trouble finding what is listed above as rectangular pvc tubing and pvc lumber. Could someone post a link to them please?

I made a spacer out of plywood that I then sprayed with leak seal. I put on top of the trailer and it worked well. However, it looks like it is starting to peel off already so who knows how long it will be till it starts to leak.

I purchased white 1x3x12 PVC board from Home Depot. I think I can glue the frame together with PVC cement. I will use a table saw to cut it down to 1 1/2" strips to make the frame.

I did also cut down the threading on the screw knob by 5/8" and reattached with a shorter screw. That gives me just enough clearance to not hit my head on it but will brush through my hair. Luckily it's not curly.
