Boler water heater

Hello all,
So I’m running a 1980 17’ Boler these days (4th Boler).
I’m having issues trying to get my hot water heater going.
There doesn’t seem to be any gas passing from the main valve.
There’s certainly LP to the stove and the stove and HWHeater are fed off the same supply line.
I priced-out a new valve at ~$250.
I believe I could install this all right, but there’s no guarantee that the HWH will even work afterwards.
I tried to break into this valve, but was unsuccessful.
Any thought, tips or prayers?

Also, where can I pickup a Boler sticker package? How much do they run?

You most likely need a $20.00 part .Does the pilot light come on when you hold the button in? If it does and goes out immediately when you release the button, you need a thermocoupler...available anywhere.

No - I mean there is no gas
You can hang a match under the venturi all day if you want - aint nothing gonna light.
I was going to order a new thermocoupler anyway if I replaced the valve.
No - there is gas going into the valve, and no gas coming out of the valve.

I can replace the valve, no problema. It's just if I do, I might find-out the HWH is shot anyway.

The question is, spend the $300 tax-in on the valve/thermocoupler and take the chance the HWH isn't burned-out.
Is there anyway to tell if a HWH is likely to work, short of firing it up?

Not trying to be a smart aleck, but you turned the small knob to pilot, pushed it down and held it with a match on the pilot? It can take 3-4 minutes for the gas to make it through the system if nothing else is running on gas

Thanks guys - no offense taken.
It's my 4th Boler - so I know my way around them alright.
The good news is that I got the gas valve working AND the HWH working. Working like a hot-damn, actually.
It's all good.
