Brake/Turn Signal Lights

We hooked up our Boler the other day to get her ready for camping and when I tried the lights, the brake lights work fine, the hazard lights work fine and the left turn signal works fine, but the right signal doesn't work, except when the brake is on as well. My utility trailer lights work fine, so I know the problem isn't in the TV.

Can someone point me in the direction of where I might look to find the fault?

Thanks,
Noel

Noel if you have a little bit of corrosion of any kind on the tow plug & or the trailer side it can give you strange results.

I would check the bulb socket for rust and clean with fine sand paper, then very light coating of grease. Good luck.

Check the lights again with the lenses off, the right side may be finding a ground through the other element when the brakes are applied.
If so check the ground at the right side light.

To make life easier from now on, I'd run a ground wire from the wiring plug at the tongue to the brakes and to each tail light. The wire is only a few bucks, it is relatively easy to run and it eliminates future headaches.

Is there a way to test the lights without the TV attached?

Simply use a battery or charger with a couple of probes so that you can inject power into each function separately. Bear in mind that each brake light is powered by it's respective turn signal wire. and fourways are are both turn signals. The exposed terminal on the fourplug is the ground.

Look here...
