Bug zapping noise coming for circuit board

I have a 2013 Scamp. My dog recently chewed through a set of plug in lights I had, and I turned them on when returning home (not knowing they were chewed through). I got rid of the lights and the power strip they were plugged into. But since then I'm having power issues. The lights keep dimming, the power won't stay on and my circuit box is making a sound like a big zapper. I incidentally discovered the exterior shore cable was frayed the the attachment, so I've replaced that and I replaced the outlet my power strip was plugged into. But now I simply can not locate what is causing the problem? Any tips before I take her in for professional care?

A bug zapper makes noise because it kills bugs when electricity arcs. Arcing is dangerous and can lead to a fire. I am guessing that what you refer to as your circuit box is where your circuit breakers and fuses are located. If I were you, I would immediately unplug the trailer from shore power, open the “circuit box,” and check that all connections secured by screws/bolts are securely tight and all fuses are fully seated. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, either find someone who is or call an electrician. Lights dimming is not a good sight. If I recall correctly, Scamp converters are not always hard wired but plug into an outlet. (The converter changes 120 volt AC power to 12 volt DC power for lights and fans, etc. and charges the house battery/batteries.) Also check that the converter connection, if it is a plug, is not loose as it could also be arcing. I would also advise that you get your dog some chew toys, as chewing on electrical cables can have some very unwanted consequences.

I recently had to redo my entire Scamp electrical harness due to similar problem. My harness was rusted at splice points and my fuse kept frying.

At some point i measured voltage directly at the DC panel and only got 3V instead of 12V.

The bug zapper noise is a real problem. Power everything down and then take the part that is zapping apart and find the problem. If you don't know what you are doing in fixing this, find someone who does.

Lights dimming sounds like a neutral issue , take it in unless you know someone familiar with 12 volt systems. Don't plug it in !!!! That's a fire waiting to happen
