Burning smell from heater.

Just got a1983 13' Scamp and plugged it in as I do a little updating. I noticed a slight warm smell and found the source at the heater. But propane's not even hooked up yet! The sink above it got warm too. I turned the thermostat down as low as it can go and the lever under the thermostat too. That seemed to take care of the problem, but I unplugged the camper for safety sake. Does anybody know why it was warming up without fuel?

Possibly the 12v fan, if the thermostat is on.

You didn't mention what make and model furnace you have, but it should have "timed out" and shut down without any propane available. I'd find and pull the fuse to the furnace until you can have it checked out by a qualified LP repair service person.

Bottom line.... it doesn't sound good and can become dangerous.
Above all, don't try it with LP until it's checked out.
