Burro Ceiling Seam

Has anyone just painted the exposed ceiling seam in a molded trailer?
I own a 1986 Burro 17ft. The carpet I glued to cover it fell off after a couple of years and I'm now trying to glue it up again but it will not stay. The surface is rough green translucent with glue residue. I used 3m spay adhesive, Worked the first time but not anymore. Thinking of just masking and painting it white?

Any ideas?

Use contact cement applied to both surfaces

Yep, contact cement, both sides.
6 years and no problem.
