Butyl tape to fix belly band seal.

Before I go buy fibreglass and fill it in, has anyone used to butyl tape to reseal the belly band? I assume I would see some posts on this if it was a good idea.

If it's not leaking I wouldn't seal it. My Casita's belly band is simply attached with small pop rivets and nothing underneath.

Why do you think that the problem is in the belly band, but not in the nearby to the leak window?

I ran the garden hose on the belly band. It came in pretty fast

If the belly band is like the one on a trillium, the rivets holding it on, are attached to steel plates that were put in place when the trailer was molded, over time water travels in, and rots out the metal, if that is the case, you may not be able to re-attach it, unless you go the fibreglass route and add new plates as you are doing it

Butyl tape to fix belly band seal.

Different makes have different methods of joining the belly band. I donít know how Ventura does it, but it doesnít appear to work like Casita and Scamp, with turned out lips and fiberglassed on the inside.

It might be like a Trillium... or not.

We need a Ventura owner, or some close-up photos and a good description of how itís joined, including whatís on the inside.

With the heavy leaking youíre describing, Iím going to predict fiberglass work will be required.
