Canadian sale in USA???

I am considering the sale of my Bigfoot 17B while I am in Florida. I have clear title and all the paperwork.
Will it be a lot of trouble for a US resident to re-register the trailer if they make the purchase?
The trailer will not be available until I am ready to leave Florida on April 1st.
Thanks in advance for any information you can share.

From all I've read, Dave, that's a no-go. The buyer (or a registered importer) has to legally import the trailer at the border and obtain paperwork as proof of such. Without it, the trailer cannot be registered in the US.

I wish I had a definitive official reference to give you, but the question has come up several times, and the answer has always been the same. Here's one:

Thanks for the info and the link. It certainly looks like it will be too much trouble. However, I will be in London, Ontario for a while in April and there may be some interest from one of the closer states. It is only two hours to Detroit, Pt. Huron or Ft. Erie.
I will give it some thought and if anyone is interested it will be $4500.00 USD should I decide to go ahead with the sale.
Thanks, Scouter Dave

I believe Jon is correct. You should be able to find someone at these numbers that can tell you one way or another

Correction: should I decide to sell the trailer the price will be $4000.00 USD - not - $4500.00.

Hi Dave looks like your doing well.. We met you at the Algonac Rally . We were camped just across the road from you. I gave you an LED light bulb for your trailer which I think was a Trillium at the time. Anyhow we live about 1/2 hour from the Detroit border. You can park here for free if you want coming or going to Florida. We are just off of the 401. I remember you going to Tisdell,s travel trailer store to get some parts for your Trailer. We just live around the corner from there. Tons of parking with water and hydro.

Dave,

I have successfully imported 3 campers (2 Bolers and 1 Trillium) from Canada. What I know is that the US purchaser must obtain Form 7501 from US Customs in order to import the camper. For each camper, I have obtained this form at a border crossing, however, its my understanding that the form could also be obtained at another US Customs Border Patrol office, such as an international airport. The purchaser could investigate doing this in Florida.

The US purchaser would also want to secure a bill of sale and signed-over Canadian registration from you upon purchase.

EDIT: I don't think that campers brought into the US for personal use can be sold.

That LED light is still in the outside light on the Trillium. Thanks.

Two years ago, I followed the following procedure when selling my Trillium and everything worked.
All transactions prepared via the internet, registration, insurance.
All that remained was to complete the transfer of money to our meeting at the Customs on the Canadian side.

Importing Travel Trailer to United States | Fiberglass RV's For Sale

I believe that the laws may be somewhat different from one State to another.
That the buyer inquires well before taking the steps.
