Casita pantry
Nice innovation in the 2013 Casita we bought. Closet converted to closet with pantry.

Very nice. Wish I was skilled enough to create something like this in my Scamp.
Also, welcome to the Forum. Tell us about your new Casita. We love photos. Also need to update your profile from Trailer "Shopping" it sounds like.
Hope you enjoy your's as much as I've enjoyed my Scamp so far.

Excellent job Mireles. I can see the vertical support attached to the hanger rod. I'm guessing the shelf fronts are attached at the door jamb. How are you supporting the backs of the shelves. Guessing its a 1/2' or so thick board attached to the closet wall under the shelves. If so, how do you attach the boards to the closet wall. We're picking up our new casita in 2 weeks and I'm starting to line up projects. This one will be near the top of the list. Once again, good work. Mike

Eddie- I tried to respond to your PM. I'm new at this, and don't think it went through. Thank you for the details on your closet shelf supports. The shelves are not only great looking, but very functional. I will try to duplicate them. Thanks again, Mike

New pantry old closet
Now that you have a pantry in your closet where do you hang your clothes, or are you nudists and have no problems?

This particular mod leaves room for hangers on one side- pretty clever! As for me, my entire closet is filled with shelves. I don't bring anything camping that has to go on hangers. Different strokes for different folks.

I have never hung any of my clothes in my Scamp. They live in the rear overhead cabinet, rolled, as many folks do when packing a suitcase. Keeps them reasonably wrinkle-free.
Could the original poster please post the build information here? I too would like to do something similar.

I read it as the closet mod was already done when the OP bought the trailer

I am the PO and I built the shelves. I had a older Casita that the PO had installed full shelves and I did not like them. I not hung up on hang ups. I like to keep my camp chairs in the trailer and be able to store a broom and other long items in the trailer. I'm sure my portable solar panel could live in the closet slot which I think is about 11" wide.
The corner notches in the shelves allow for wire racks and other storage options on the back of the closet door. The shelves are 1/2" oak ply wood and the edges are cut from 1x3 oak boards. I replaced the door hinge pine 1x2 backer strip with an oak one and screwed 8"x12" shelf brackets the backer strip and the shelves set on the shelf brackets. The vertical strip supports and stabilize the shelves. I made cardboard patterns to cut the shelves from and I used the bath wall as a reference for measurements,
Eddie

Shelf template (2014 and later Casitas) project update
This is for full width closet shelf templates you can modify to suit (as in smaller if desired)
Pic shows a half-shelf template for a top shelf near the closet rod. There is a PDF file for this on my website at the bottom of the Products page you can download and take the file to Kinkos or a graphics shop and have it printed at 100% scale on their large format printer, then trim it at the edges and use to make a template for your own shelf. Need some woodworkers out there to give this a try and get back to me on how well it works - should be a snug fit to the walls at about 52 inches above the closet floor.
