Casita sink faucet leak

Hello out there! Looking for help and experience with Casita kitchen sink install/repair. We just bought a very gently used 2015 Casita SD (our first fiberglass!), and the previous owners replaced the kitchen sink with a deep stainless model. The seal around the countertop is a bit sloppy, but it's a nice upgrade. The trailer has sat for about a year since its last use. Unfortunately, we discovered a drip leak under the faucet - not drain/trap, but in back by the wall. Removing the faucet parts on top only got us so far. Even removing the top drawer under the stove to reach around, the sink is so deep, we cannot get to the back under the faucets to troubleshoot and I'm thinking I may have to take the whole sink out to work on it. I'm handy and prefer to do the work myself, but we are considering taking it to an rv dealer if needed... but would like to avoid that cost and wait time if possible. Before I attempt to take the sink out, anyone have experience with this they can offer? Appreciate any & all help!

Sounds like the cold or hot water faucet connection may have worked loose and is leaking. A spanner wrench should allow you to tighten these fittings without removing the sink...maybe. As you probably know Casita trailers have a fully sealed floor. So any water from plumbing leaks can get trapped and eventually cause floor damage. We use RV Whispers water leak sensors to warn us about this in our 2023 Casita LD.

Thank you Gayle & Bob. RV Whispers are a best practice for sure going forward... We also discovered that the outside shower leaks too, which is easier to access from under the dinette seat. Seems the 10 yr. old fixtures are coming loose. No issue in the bathroom yet that we can see! (fingers crossed) For the kitchen sink, no room for a spanner wrench, so the sink may have to come out... appreciate the input!

Yup. I found that out when I replaced the faucet fixture when my Casita had the "standard" sink. After "sliding" into the storage compartment under the sink, I found that I really needed to be a triple jointed monkey to work on the faucet connections. I NEVER want to relive that experience again.

A couple of years later, I did have to remove and replace the sink gaskets. Having done that, the only way to go for work on the faucet is to remove/reinstall the sink....

Thanks Larry - good to know from your experience... I feared that work was coming my way (take out the sink). But nice to know my suspected path for resolution is on par with others' experience. I can tell patience and prep will be key, and I'll allow myself plenty of camper down-time just in case I get into more of a pickle than planned.

There are some of these repairs where a small child can come in very handy. So does a bore scope. Okay you can put one of those into a hole and take a look at a hole and things like that but they talk about using it for. But you can also just use it as a camera that you can put into small areas that you can't get you. I use mine a lot.

To close this out and our solution: We did take out the sink, replaced the fixture connections that were not done well (where it leaked), and we replaced about a 18" of the blue/red water lines to the sink with flexible stainless hose so connections in the future could be accessed/tightened under the stove with kitchen drawer removal. No leaks now, sink is back in with plumber's putty and new clear caulk, and we can wash our dishes again! About a 2-hour project.

Next project is replacing the leaking outside shower with a quick-connect. We ordered this heavier-duty metal model from Amazon:

TY to the FRV Casita owners for your input! The adventure continues...
