Converter issue

I’m sure this has been covered a million times… can someone provide a set of troubleshooting steps for a novice
My converter is an elixir Eli-20
I downloaded the manual but didn’t find much value in it
Evidently these are no longer mfg
And the recommendation is a Pd 4135…. Before I pull the trigger I’d like to make sure my converter has died …
Thanks in advance

Yes on the front of converter and 1 on a marked for the battery… I checked that furs ( it was good)… but when I put my meter on the slot I got nothing when we lug into ac
So does that mean my converter isn’t charging the battery ( that is what I’m thinking)

Old converters are known battery boilers. Some just use a small automotive battery charger.

Myself, I had no interest in relying on the 44 year old power center in my 1977 Trillium. Electrical components do not get better with age, and many of these were not very well built originally.

True and false... true that electrical components do not improve with age like a fine Scotch... but false that older devices were not well built. In fact many older ones were built with much better components than are used in recent years.. and they lasted much longer. In fact the keyboard on my desktop PC which I use for hours almost every day is having it's 34th birthday in December. It goes clickity-clackity and I love that.

However all that is moot when comparing the design of old "dumb" converters or chargers to modern "smart" ones. Modern chargers are usually much improved. Now if we could only get the modern design with the quality parts of yesteryear.. that would be gold.

do yourself a favor

Get one that can charge LiFePO4 batteries. Just a little future proofing.

Future Proofing

The PD4135 has a switch to change to Lithium charging capability

Great company to work with and get support even on week ends:

Check the fuse at the battery+.
Also check the fuse just inside the bulkhead fitting in the front right corner of the trailer where the wiring enters.

Battery boilers

If you plugged a "battery boiler" into a Jackery type device, wouldn't the Jackery device fix the problem of over charging?
