Cook Top Parts

Does anyne know a source for parts for a Brown Stove Works 002-Y. It's a two burner cook top in a 1980 Trillium 1300. Looking for the knobs and burner retaining clips.

Check out your local hardware for replacement knobs in the BBQ section.

Clips are still available, I fashioned some out of coat hangers. You bend them up to look like the "monkey bars" on bicycles years ago. I'm sure I posted pictures at some time.

Hi Brian,

I have the same stove in my 1980 Trillium 4500. I was able to clean the stainless top adequately, though not great, but the horrible looking worn out knobs were a problem. I got generic replacements from a local barbecue supply store last week for about $4.50 that look much better. I had to buy them twice, because the first time I got excellent looking knobs that were slightly too big in diameter. They looked fine, but when pushing down on the knob to be able to rotate it, they caught the edge of the depression in the cook top where the knobs are. The second pair I purchased used knobs the same diameter as the originals, which solved that problem.

The gas valves use the same cutout as a standard barbecue, so the knobs fit well. However, they turn in the opposite direction to open the gas, so I had to get knobs that were not graduated.

As for the spring clips, they seem to be the same as for the Coleman 2202C or 2203 from similar vintage. I bought several from a used RV junkyard a couple of years ago, and I expect you could find them in a lot of old RVs. They can be bent slightly to fit tighter if necessary.

Also, the old Coleman model 2202C cook top fits exactly onto the Brown stove guts, so you could replace one with the other if you found a better one of those. I find the Brown cooktop to be fairly ugly, but that is just me.
