Disconnecting propane fridge; plug size?
I am going to remove a non working fridge and need to plug the propane line. I have a main line from the regulator with branch lines from that for the fridge, range and furnace. There are no shut off valves at the branches so if I just disconnect the fridge, either at the fridge or the branch from the main line it will be open. I would like to screw in a plug so I retain my option to install another fridge with limited complications. Are these plugs readably available from an RV shop? What is the diameter and thread size?
Advice and direction, as usual, graciously accepted.
Thanks,
Barrie

Barrie, I don't remember the size but it's readily available in brass at Lowes or Home Depot

They make a brass plug that would fit the one in the boler. Shut off propane and check the fitting size and male or female connection to look for correct fitting. The one on the boler is 3/8 inch flared tube with female connection nut at piping. They also make a cap if needed for this if male at tube.

There is a compound for gas lines that you put on the threads and it is blue in color. It helps to insure a tight fit. Ask the associate in the plumbing department for it.
There is a soap type of liquid in the same department that you use to detect a leak.
You have to be absolutely sure that there is NO leakage while under pressure.

Thanks folks! Although it's below freezing... still, I got the fitting off and taped over them to keep things clean until I find the right cap and tape. The tanke has been disconnected as I'm switching from a single to a double regulator. I live in the boonies and I can't just pop into a Lowes or Home DEPOT... LOL. Hurry up and wait.
Thanks again.

I know what you mean Barrie, my closest Lowe's is 200 miles away, we have a True Value 60 miles away but they don't always have the stuff you need.

From the sound of things, once you get to the boonies, there is even more miles to get to where you guys live.

If it is a flare fitting you do not use pipe dope or tape.

You've heard the term "middle of nowhere"?; that's half way to my place...
I enjoy rural living. When we first moved here 20 years ago we noticed a huge difference in living expenses... there was no place to run out to and spend money. LOL.
