Dometic Cool Cat air conditioners (under the seat)

Does anyone have the Dometic “Cool Cat” airconditioner that fits under the seat? I’m considering getting one, it has the ability to cool and also heat, within limits. Around $1,100 w/o installation. I’m on the Cape, going to Major’s RV if I have one installed.

I have one in my Class B van camper. It’s really noisy, vibrates a lot, and expensive. Not worth it IMO. Get a small ceramic cube heater for heat and a window-type unit for air conditioning.

Cool Cat air conditioner

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking of going back to Scamp for A/C but then saw this on the Dometic website and a local dealer would install it. Nice to know I don’t want it before I got it. thanks again.

If your Scamp is reinforced for it, roof A/C is simplest and gives the best circulation. It's also fairly noisy and transmits vibration through the shell. Price is likely similar to the CoolCat.

Inexpensive alternative is a window A/C, which can be permanently mounted in a cabinet (requires a largish vent cut in the shell and DIY engineering of baffles and condensation drainage) or temporarily through the rear slider (remove for towing, requires a filler plate to cover the gaps).

Note that the CoolCat will also require an exterior vent cut in the shell.
