Door hinges 1978 Surfside Triple e

In my introduction I mentioned I had an issue with the door to my trailer coming unhinged during travel. Since I arrived at home I noticed that hinges were slightly different. One seems to sit a bit deeper than the other or am I just seeing things. The door sticks out a bit at the bottom and in a bit at the top. I assume the door should be flush with the body of the trailer? Also the details in the door do not line up with the body details. I have attached picture which should help to better explain. My solution is the move the bottom hinge to the top and top to the bottom. I also plan to fill the screw hole in the door with epoxy and reattach the hinges. Any opinions or ideas would be much appreciated. Also are these the original hinges for this trailer?

Those hinges are totally different than a Trillium, looks more like the ones on a U-Haul except the U-Haul hinges are better built, they can be purchased here.........
McMaster-Carr

Also it looks like the insides might be rotten they glue pieces of wood in there to screw the hinges to......

Thanks Randy, I was planning on filling the cavity with a marine epoxy and one dry, sand and reinstall the hinges. I do like the look of the newer hinges but was hoping to polish and reuse what was there. If it doesn't work I will definitely order new..Thanks for the link. The door just seems a bit off, nothing really lines up...but I guess that is what to expect with a trailer that is this age. If I can fix it I will post an update

Cheers

Hey Dave,

Did you ever fix your door? I have the exact same problem with mine.

Door shows typical sag. Hinge mounts are likely culprit. Is that what original Surfside hinges looked like?

the hinges look the same as mine, see attached photo. As far as I know mine are original. I guess a saggy door is common, hey? I’m thinking I’ll unscrew my hinges from the body and try and move the door up. Just hope the wood is in decent shape to screw back in to.
