Door Hinges

Hi to all...

A new owner/member here. Continuing to restore a 1977 13' Scamp that the previous owner did a great job starting. I have an issue with the door hinges and wondered if anyone could snap a closeup and post it for me. One hinge has a spring the other doesn't. I think I may also have to shim at the hinges to get the door to match up better with the opening.

I've read the "door" articles and found them to be helpful... just no close up shots of hinges.

Any close up photos of the hinges would be a great help.

I have tried to find replcement springs for the hinges but I have had no luck. The best thing to do is order new hinges from Scamp. (Not very expensive.) I normally replace all the bolts and nuts with stainless hardware when I install the new hinges. You might as well get a new shiny door handle and door holdback catch in the same shipment.
There is not much shimming you can do to the door. I normally end up filling the door old hinge bolt holes with epoxy or fiberglass filler (Available at Wal Mart) and re-drill new hinge mounting holes in the door.

Hi: Eddie... Scamp offers a hinge repair kit $5.00 which includes a pin/ brass ball/ tension spring/and lock nut. I bought a couple of them and two spare brass balls $1.50ea. Complete hinges are around $25.00 I bought them also for future use maybe???
