Door on my 2004 scamp 5ver?

I love my 5th wheel Scamp........but the door drives me nuts! It is too tight at the bottom hinge side when closing and can't find a seal that will last a half of season. It came with that factory assist strap that scamp sells for doors that are too tight. I have to reach down and pull the door out when closing to avoid "wiping" the seal away. Anyone have this problem and came up with a better solution?

A "D" shaped closed cell door gasket is now available directly from Scamp.

The thick D seal is available from Scamp but you need to call the parts department.

Sounds like your door too tight against the trailer. I would shim out the lower door hinge on the trailer side. I have made metal shims out of aluminum sheeting. Also put butyl tape under the hinge when reinstalling to prevent leaks from under the hinge.

Anyone ever have a leak on through the hinges on the 5th wheel model? I have a deluxe that when we had a good rain, the hamper floor carpet would be wet as well as the first step (which are the same level) goin up to loft.I figured awning attachment, nope, not the running light, hinges possibly, don't think the belly band is an issue.

Check your hinge bolts on the inside if they are rusty you have a leak. Scamp does not seal under the hinges or at least on the trailers I have seen. Just take your door off with the ball bolts. Remove the castle nuts and hinge brackets on the trailer side and put butyl tape behind the brackets. I usually replace the hinge hardware with stainless hardware. While working in that area I replace the door hold back bracket with a stainless bracket.
The answer to your question is water will leak into the trailer through the hinge mounting bolt holes.
