I'm planning on putting a hatch or compartment door on the curb side behind the wheel of my 13' Burro that will give me access to the storage area under my rear seat. The maximum size it will take is 9 1/2" tall x 11 1/2" wide. Two or three years ago, someone here recommended a good source for these on the internet, but I can't find it now. Does anyone know such a source???? Many, many thanks if you do.

Send a message via Yahoo to Kurt & Ann K.
We'd like to increase the size of the battery access door on our 17' FD Casita.
Thanks for resurrecting the topic again.

We found that most RV doors were too big. A marine supply will have the smaller doors.

Another option is to make your own using the cutout as the new door.

The framing on the inside can be made of wood, but I like aluminum better. A good source for almost free aluminum is your local Goodwill or St. Vincent or recycling store. They often have used aluminum screen doors for a couple of bucks.

These have all sorts of interesting extrusions, hinges, locks and fasteners that can be used for a project of this sort. The aluminum is easy to work and is strong and light weight.

Still looking for the door. I just got a quote from RV Parts Discount for having one made (9 1/2" x 11 1/2"). In aluminum it would cost $170.90 and in fiberglass it would be $191.50. I'm sure that a couple of years ago I saw some ready made ones about this size for around $30.00. So, I'm still looking.

You might try "RV Baggage Doors" when you Google too.

Here's another link for custom made: Kinro

Here's one from a Marine Supply that measures 8 1/2 X 11 3/8 for $52.99
Defender Access Hatch

This one is a bit bigger 9 13/16 x 12 by Bomar thats $47.42:

Thanks for all the help. I checked them all out and found what I needed on eBay. I ordered on "Buy It Now" a 10" round hatch with an 8" opening for $12.95. This dealer has a ton of hatches in his EBay Store at really good prices. If you're looking for a hatch, check out greatlakesskipper (Great Lakes Skipper) on eBay. He also has a ton of other things for boats that might be useful for our little fiberglass eggs.
