Exterior white rivet caps 13' Scamp

I am replacing some of the rotten exterior white rivet caps and the clear snap that is held on by the rivet is breaking off due to rot as well. Do I have to drill the rivet out, order some new clear snaps from Scamp and rivet them back on before the end cap can be replaced?

I have the exact same problem and I believe you do have to drill out the rivet and re-rivet it with the new snap-cap washer... If anyone knows a different way, please tell us!

P.S. I was able to order replacement washers and caps from here http://www.pro-dec.com/ as well as Scamp.

The caps and bases are available in different colors from hardware and marine supply stores.

I had a few of the caps gone on my 16'casita and i just took a new cap....... put some caulk under it and snapped it in place........ still working for me. if the rivets not broken this may be an easier alternative.

I am in the process of re-riviting my entire 13' Scamp. Virtually all of the white caps were gone as well as the washers and quite a few rivets. The trailer was a recreational rental purchased from the US Navy.
I ordered all of my rivets and washers from Scamp. I found that 3/16X1/2 pop rivets tighten up much better than the rivets I purchased from Scamp. The Scamp rivets are a bit longer.

Hey Joe,

I spoke to a Scamp tech person today and they instructed me to use clear silicone under the cap. Really don't need the base.
