Floor at entrance cracking

Hey everyone,

Curious if folks have encountered a problem with the floor next to the door cracking and breaking because of foot traffic. Here's a snap of our 1974 1300 Boler. The wood flooring has started breaking off because of time and ppl walking on it.

Our thought is to add a metal plate to the front. Just wanted to know if anyone had any other suggestions or solutions

Somewhat common frame issue at the door opening. That door area should have been designed for foot traffic.

Love the old vintage FG trailers, but each brand has its weaknesses.

To be fair, I doubt any of these manufacturers thought we would be using these trailers 40 to 50 years later.

I know eh? @Thrifty_bill, I love our old Boler but it feels like we're never not doing repairs, haha

Yes! I have a Beachcomber ‘79 - and it’s basically squishy and saggy fiberglass from traffic at the door opening base. Also have a pullout step underneath which may contribute to the problem - will have to double check.

Haven’t fixed it yet, but spoke with someone who suggested screwing a piece of wood to it that fits and that adds support. So metal would work probably better if you can find a piece that fits.

Would love to know your result and pics

We have a metal edge at door opening on our 1700, was there when we got it.

Thanks, everyone. We just picked up a piece of metal floor transition trim that matches parts of the bowler (usually used when transitioning between carpet and tile or wood inside the house). I'll let you know the results and if I recommend it @tresea
