Hi all,

I'm new to the site and the new owner of a 1978 Trillium 4500. I'v been reading posts on flooring and am not sure how to handle an issue with the Trill. The 4500 has its water tank under the floor beneath the table accessible by a plywood cover set into the fiberglass floor. So whatever flooring I use needs to be able to be lifted somehow. I had thought about using the TrafficMaster Allure flooring that so many folks have used, but am not sure how to handle the access to the water tank. Any other Trillium 4500 owners deal with this issue already?

Thanks for any help! Kelly.

I just fitted a plywood cover to go on top of the plywood cover that is already there.
Then lay the flooring on that and install and edge where the step down is.
Since the step is there it is a natural place to have 2 separate sections of flooring, one of which can be lifted out if needed.

Also you have to watch for overfilling the tank,if you know what I mean?

Have Fun!

Ed

Hi Ed,

I'm wondering why you have to watch? It's a closed system with fill and vent to the outside fitting, no? When mine gets full water starts to squirt out the tiny vent hole......

Cheers!

We only used Allure on the main floor, laid over the rubber mesh carpet underlay. We then used a piece of edged carpet from Home depot; wide enough to cover the plywood and narrow enough to fit between the benches. We had to shorten the carpet by a couple of inches.

It is a low traffic area and allows for easy cleaning.
