I was wondering what it took to get it ready to paint. Did you do the prep work yourself? Or did you have a pro do all the work? If you had it professionally painted what did it cost you? Any inspration pic's would be wonderful..... Thanks Robin

A 'pro' did ALL our work, but I passed on having all the l'il stress cracks fixed and small 'waves' removed from the shell. The job was a 'freebee' but would have cost in excess of $1500. Still not to shabby a price for what we got....

$1500 doesn't sound bad at all. Thanks, Doug for the info! Robin

My husband paints professionally and just the paint supplies alone for ours last year were $1100.00.
As for process I know that he removed decals, filled a couple hairline cracks around the door, scuffed, primed, painted and clearcoated.
If you need any specifics I will be happy to ask him.

Kenny & Jack............... Love your trailer! Besides being on of my Favorite colors, it's a beautiflul paint job. I figured a paint job at around $3.000. I will just have to investagate it here in our area. Thanks for the info.
Keep the inspiration pic's coming! Robin

I love it! That is what I want to do with my '68 VW pickup. We put blue accents on our UHaul VT, so it would match our pickup, but we have yet to make the pickup run. But then, looks kinda good with our Eurovan too. And the hubby is gradually adding the blue (Chicago Cubby blue) to the Eurovan to match the UHaul accents.

Joe, very cool!
Well everybody who was so nice to help out and show some great pic's and suggest some tips and tricks. ummmmm, I won't be having the Casita painted after all. Yesterday we bought a new to us 2007 Casita. Pick up Sat, so the 85 will have to wait and see what the next owner would want to do. But again, Thanks for your help! Robin

Hi,
Did the surface prep take a long time? Let me know if a primer was used before the top coat
Thanks

Several days spent stripping the paint with a razor blade. A lot of days spent with a 1/2 sheet sander and a 1/4 sheet sander and a lot of hand sanding with many grades of sand paper. It seemed that we were forever sanding until it seemed to be ready for paint. Oh, I almost forgot about washing it and wiping it down with cleaners to make it dirt and grease and wax free. Then comes the time spent taping everything that you don't want painted. [Hope I didn't tape the dog inside] A coat of primer and then sand. Another coat of primer and sand. Three coats of finish colour. But don't forget to sand in between. Do this outside in the driveway in front of an audience of your kibbitzing neighbours and finallyafter a couple of week when it didn't rain, step back and accept the neighbours appreciation.
Actually I think that they are glad the sanding and dust is all over with.
Was it all worth the effort involved? Darn right!

Thanks James
I appreciate the feedback. I started sanding and Man that latex paint they painted over the fibreglass sticks like s**t to a blanket for sure. I can see where the prep is going to take a long time before I even think of painting this rig. Thanks for the input.
Regards
Errol
