Generator on a rainy day?

Just curious how others keep their generators dry during rain?

I put mine under my small plastic table I have for outside that I cook on.

If you go solar you don't have to worry about generators.
The only time I've used my Honda in the last 5 or 6 years was when the power was out in the winter and it ran my pellet stove.

Lots of solar panels may be needed to run your A/C.
How about just run it under your awning?
Won't it run in the rain?

I often wonder what you do with a gen in the rain as well. Under awning would be to close, I think. On the other hand what about solar panels, the suitcase kind. I have neither but am leaning towards solar this year. If i need air I will go to a CG. I camp mostly in higher elevations where it gets cool at night and the fantastic fan would be enough. Carl

Bruce, here's what I did back last September in Henderson KY at a model airplane fly-in. Note the clamps will work better holding the plastic. It so happens one of them broke and I had to use a bungee- as you see in this pic. Overall, I'd rather use the clamps; because the plastic will wrap around the legs and hold better allowing the water to run off the gen. The bungee's ok too though. Just an idea for you to consider... cheap and very effective.

DO NOT cover the ends- especially the muffler! If you do, it will make itself a hole! But if you will notice, I had the plastic to drape over BOTH sides easily shedding the water. But the front was most important to me in order to protect the plugs, meter, switches, etc. from the water. It was VERY windy and rained while I was there and I experienced ZERO problems with this setup.

The plastic for what it's worth, is simply the heavy duty plastic like they use under houses.

I would NOT run this generator under my awning and sleep in the camper. That's just my opinion.
