I'm in the middle of a reno on a 1994
Scamp 16ft. The original front and rear plexiglass
windows needed to be replaced. I purchased the new plexiglass and lockstrip from
Scamp. For the rear window I used a router with a pattern cutting bit to cut it to the exact size as the old one. After fighting the gasket, plexiglass, and lockstrip for several hours we finally got it mostly installed. But the glass appears too small. The edge of the glass doesn't fit into the groove of the gasket in 2 corners and a small area on the bottom edge. Even with the lockstrip in place.
The only thing I can think of is that the lockstrip gasket in the original was larger and thus the window now appears too small. Has
Scamp used various sizes of gasket over the years? I don't think plexiglass would shrink to this extent over time and the window opening has not been altered. The original owner (my neighbor) said that he never replaced the
windows. Comparing the new and old lockstrip it appears the old may be larger but with it being 30 years old and rock hard it's difficult to tell.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Any idea's?
