Hissing Lights with Shorepower, but not battery

Hi,

I just noticed that when I turn on the lights lights using the trailer power cord there is a hissing noise, but there is no hissing noise when I turn the lights on using the battery.

Is this sound normal? What causes it? It not super loud, but it's a little annoying. How can I fix this?

Thanks!

Anne

The sound could be coming from your converter. Could it be the fan in it running? It should do it whenever plugged in, and not just when the lights are on.

How about a ceiling fan on.

I would listen carefully and track the sound to its source.

I really doubt it is the lights themselves, but who knows.

What is your trailer, Anne? Your user info says "In the market"

It would be helpful if Ann would tell the kind of trailer she has!

That Hissing sound could also be a loose connection on the a.c. side that starts when load (like lights) is applied. A loose connection like that can generate hydrogen inside wire insulation and the next sound could be not unlike that of the last one heard from the Hindenburg.

I once saw the cord on a soldering iron explode not long after a hissing sound in the handle was heard.

I suggest stopping everything until it's source is located.
