Hitch height on 5th wheel scamp

I just bought a 1994 5th wheel Scamp with 13 inch wheels and no lift. Does anyone know how high it is from the ground to the hitch, the hitch height? I called the factory in Minnesota and they did not know, the guy in service just got frustrated by the question?

Moderator's note: I pulled the above question, posted today, from a nine year old thread on Scamp 19 info, because I was afraid James' question would go unnoticed and not be answered. Hopefully someone can help him!

I sold both of my 5ers but will reply. The truck bed hitch heigth is adjustable, about 4-6 inches. The upper deck lower edge is the critical measurement. When sitting level, the bottom of the upper deck was about 55" above the ground. So your bed rail should height be 48" no more than 50". These figures are for a 3" lift so factor that in with a non lifted trailer.
When you unhitch and you pull your truck out it is good to record the height. Once you pull out from under the trailer you will usually usually lower the nose about 4" to get the trailer level again. If you raise the nose to the recorded height before hooking up it makes hitching up a little easier.
If I had not traded my truck I could measure the dent on my old tailgate and give you an exact figure.

I should of bought a bumper pull

Thanks, that's what I needed. It is 52 1/2 inch from the ground to the top of my truck bed and the trailer has no lift. So my truck may be 5 inches too high. Thank god for this forum. A bumper pull would of been easy, but now I need lift kits, new spacers, new axles, new 14 inch tires and etc. I am learning a lot more about 5th wheel trailers and towing trucks then I ever wanted to know. Anybody want to trade me for a 16 ft Scamp bumper hitch trailer. Thanks again.

Your situation does have a solution, but as you just found out, it comes with some expense. If you are serious about a trade, you might get some interest from our members. Adding some photos of the trailer and a trade value would also help. Scamp fifth wheels are nice trailers and a lifted one to work with your truck sounds like a great rig. Welcome to the forum and best of luck with your situation.

Trade for a 16

I just happen to have an original 1988 16ft. Scamp with new tires, bearings packed, new battery and LED lights that would look good in your driveway.
