Horizon awning problem

:o :o

I did a search on this site but couldn't find anything so here is my problem.

When I went to Mesa, AZ to pick up my Casita and Earnhardt's guy was showing me about the Casita, he broke the little YOKE thing on the end of the awning as he was winding it back in. They were supposed to order a new one for me and since it hadn't arrived yet, I called down there today to follow up. Well, surprise, surprise, they haven't even ordered the part yet. After a lot of BS, and run around, the one responsible for ordering this thing said that they needed a model number and all the numbering information off of my awning before they could order it. The obvious question was, 'why didn't you call me for that?' You know how far that went.

Anyway, I think that plastic YOKE is cheesy and probably was on the verge of breaking anyway. Has anyone else had a problem with this and are there any better ways to do this? I am seriously thinking of Fabricating one out of Aluminum. Hey--I just remembered good old J B WELD. I think I'll try casting one out of that. I'll let you know how it works and also if any help is out there, I'd welcome that too.

Thanks,

Keith,

Call Casita. They will help you or give you a number that will.

Good Luck

Dealer

Yes, Earnhardts is an RV Dealer in Mesa, Arizona. I should have made that clear.

I bought the Casita over the Internet and drove down there from Denver to pick it up. Overall, it was an OK experience and the trailer was as good as it was represented on the Internet ad. However, it took way way to long to get through the purchase process while we were there (right Bill and Darline) and I'm sure dissapointed with their lack of taking care of this little problem. They are a HUGE dealer and my little trailer purchase was a peanut compared to what they usually deal with. Rest assured, I will be in touch with their Customer Service Rep soon.

Keith ...

http://www.dometicusa.com/products/awnings...ase/default.htm

The Horizon is made by Dometic ... here's the link. They are excellent in terms of replacing parts, etc.

The Horizon now comes with a three year warranty. I think if you said you had the yoke break, they'd probably send a replacement free.

Give them a shout!

Thanks Charles,

I will check with them and see what they will do for me. I have to unroll the awning all the way to get to the Model and Serial numbers. So, I'll do it when we go to these lousy mountains this weekend. I'll be thinking of you-in fact we plan to go to the hot springs near Mt Princeton and try them out. I'll let you know if the water is still hot. I know---I'm cruel but you'll be here soon.

Thanks again,
