Hot Water Tank Smells Like Antifreeze

Hi All,

Water that feeds through my hot water tank smells like pink RV antifreeze. Since I've owned my Scamp (a couple years now), I've never used antifreeze in the hot water tank following Scamps winterizing instructions. I first noticed the smell when using the shower. We rarely use hot water in the sink. I suspect the PO had left antifreeze in the tank and possibly cooked in the smell when while heating water. I've rinsed the tank a few times but the smell is still there.

I've got it hooked up to city water and plan to do several more flushes. Do you think this will eventually work or is there a better way to clear the odor?

Thanks

At the Bandon meet a couple of years ago someone did a little workshop on how to do maintence and one of the items they recommended was a hot water tank rinser cant say for sure but rinsing it out with one might help. The tanks can get accumulated sediment in them that due to the design of the tanks does not drain out so it helps to flush it out. Perhaps you have some sediment in the bottom the tank that is giving off the smell. I used it on mine & had a fair bit of sediment come out.

Thanks for the feedback. After a few more rinses it seems to be getting better (or I'm just getting used to the smell). I think I'll try the rinser wand method first and see how it goes.
