Make sure you test a small area with the wax process. Once you have applied the wax, if it isn't what you want, the wax will play havoc with any proper paint process. Removal of All wax residue is a chore.

Wow! A newbie could get really lost in all the information about treating the gel coat! I did the Barkeeper's/Zep combo about three years ago and it's only now starting to oxidize and be chalky again. I've never had issues with yellowing and I lived in it for three solid years without covering it or waxing it (hence, why it's oxidizing again...oops!). I will admit, the process is tedious, especially if you're a little OCD like me, but it definitely worked! I have photos on my FB page ( of before and after. I think this time I'm going to try the Meguair's Marine Cleaner Wax approach, so I'll let you know. Can't say how much I've appreciated this group over the years!!

Katie, can't wait to hear how the marine system works on your Scamp. We used to do our 16' Scamp with the Zep floor wax annually and it worked, but it was a lot of work. Now we have a Bigfoot 5th wheel that is MUCH bigger than the Scamp and we're wondering if it'd just be better to try the marine approach.

Please keep us posted!
