How to enter side locker door bigfoot 17 without key

Hello again,

We purchased an old bigfoot 17 a couple of months ago. It never came with a key for side locker door at the exterior rear of the trailer. The hinges aren't accessible so i'm not sure how to get the door open. I like to avoid a locksmith if at all possible. Do you know if it's a "one key for all bigfoots from 1988" situation? I need to re-do the plumbing so i need access to that cabinet.

Find others with locker keys and try them out. Good chance it's CH751.

And, if it's not the usual ch375, a screwdriver with a ViseGrip clamped on it will quickly open the door.

Then, get all new "cylinder key" baggage compartment locks with matching keys. About $5 each at most RV shops.

And if it is a ch375, change it anyway, before someone helps themselves to what ever Is inside.

Yeah I thought about a screwdriver. The door is pretty flimsy. If I hammer too hard I'm worried I'll crack it. Now I need to find out if anyone I know has one of the keys mentioned. Thanks for the help

Locksmiths are NOT expensive and can fix you up real fast.

That's paying a locksmith at least $35 to save a $5 lock .......
Every RV shop has a hand full of baggage door keys. Is there one near you?
You don't have to hammer anything. Just insert a screwdriver in the lock and twist counterclockwise. The retaining clip inside will yield or the retaining nut will loosen and your door will open.

Locksmiths aren't cheap where I'm from. I'll try the rv shop where I've been frequently visiting to repair my old Bigfoot. Thanks Bob
