How to fix a scamp door

How can one reform the door. Both the and the bottom have a large gap. I'm sure other have had the same problem, and would like to know how you fixed it. It's like the bow that is suppose to be in the door has straightened out. Adding more weather strip is not the answer. Both the top and the bottom have to be bent more so it will fit tighter against the camper to close the large gap.

Are the hinges causing it? They are usually one of the first problems.

The hinges are fine, and we also ordered and put that door hook on the bottom, but that didn't do anything to it.

There are several different methods that can be used to fix the door. From hard (work), like this: Fiberglass RV - Document Center - Exterior

To a BIT easier: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...ods-40235.html

To easiest still: wire and turnbuckles from top to bottom of the door to pull the ends closer together (I'll see if I can find a link later).

Hi: Mary Ann in MN... I have a similar repair to do on my ''project'' Boler. I plan on making a cut out in the bottom inside panel of the door then cover it with a vent plate. Then I'll scoup out the wet swolen fiber board filling and install some bent 1'' square aluminum tubes in the bottom of the door liner and screw thru the inner door liner into the tubing. I'll use speed clips to screw the vent cover in place. I'll try to keep my digi cam. handy to record either my success or...whatever!!! Lastly I'll re seal the window with new rubber back seal and vinyl glass seal from Vintage Trailer Supply for the Hehr door window, which caused all the problems to start with!!!

Here is my solution to the door curve problem for my Boler, the same basic design as the Scamp. It was pretty easy to do, looked good, permanent fix, worked great:

Robert J. was kind enough to send us some information on fixing the door. My husband took the door off. Took off all the old rat fur, hinges and the window. He made cuts in the fiberglass on the inside of the door, took a tiedown strap, and reformed the door. He than put new fiberglass on the entire inside of the door so it will hold it's new shape. When I got home today, he had all the new rat fur on, the hinges and the window back in it. Just have to hang it back on the camper. He did a beautiful job, and it looks just like a brand new door.

He's a Jack of all Trades and
I'm a Happy Camper
